Setting Up Your

Smart Screen & Hub

Initial Setup

1. Power On the Screen

  • Connect the screen to power by plugging the power cord into the power port located in the base of the screen OR If you have wall mounted your screen, connect to power on the side of the screen.
  • Press and hold the power button located on the back of the screen, for a few seconds to turn on the device.
  • Wait for the Android welcome screen to appear.

 

2. Choose Language & Region

  • Select your preferred language and region from the setup options.
  • Tap Next to continue.

 

3. Connect to Wi-Fi

  • Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list.
  • Enter your Wi-Fi password and connect to the internet.

 

4. Copy Apps & Data (Optional)

  • You’ll be asked if you want to copy data from another device.
  • Select Set up as new if you don’t want to transfer your information from your Android phone or tablet, or follow the on-screen instructions to transfer data using a cable or wireless method.

 

5. Google Account & Sign-In

  • Sign in using your Google account to access the Play Store, email, and synced services.
  • Accept the Google Terms of Service to continue.

 

6. Bluetooth Remote Setup

  • During setup, you will be prompted to pair the included Bluetooth remote.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pairing process.
  • Load the remote with the supplied batteries and ensure it is within a few metres of the screen when pairing.

7. Security Setup

  • For added security set a screen lock method (PIN, password, or pattern).
  • Select “Skip” or “Not now”, to continue without setting a screen lock.
  • Optional: Enable fingerprint recognition if prompted, for quicker access.
  • Follow the remaining on-screen steps to complete device setup.

Home Screen Setup

Once setup is complete, you’ll arrive at the Android Home Screen.  You can add, remove, or rearrange app shortcuts as needed.

  • Head to the Play Store and download the SIMI Smart & SIMI PowerSaver Apps.
  • Press and hold the apps to add to the top of the screen.
  • Press and hold the home screen to access layout, wallpaper, and other appearance settings.

Navigating your

SIMI Screen

Your screen uses Android 13’s default gesture navigation, but you can switch to traditional on-screen buttons if you prefer.

Gesture Navigation (Default)

  • Go Home – Swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
  • Go Back – Swipe inward from the left or right edge.
  • View Recent Apps – Swipe up from the bottom and hold.
  • Switch Between Apps – Swipe left or right along the bottom edge.
  • Open Notifications Panel – Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  • Open Quick Settings – Swipe down twice or swipe down with two fingers.

 

Switching to On-Screen Buttons

  • Go to Settings > System > Gestures
  • Tap “System Navigation”
  • Select “3-button navigation”
  • You can switch back to gestures anytime.

 

Accessibility Options (Optional)

  • Tap Settings > Accessibility to explore available tools.
  • Enable features like Color Inversion, Color Correction, or Screen Reader.
  • Adjust font size and display scaling for easier readability.

 

Additional Notes

  • Factory Reset: This option will erase all data and return the screen to original factory settings.
  • Data Backup: Use your Google account or third-party apps to back up regularly.
  • Software Updates: After setup, go to Settings > System > Updates to check for the latest Android version.
  • Hardware Issues: A factory reset will not fix hardware problems such as screen damage or charging port issues.

Troubleshooting your

SIMI Screen

Battery Not Charging?

  • Plug the screen into power in the power port on the base of the stand, not on the side of the screen.

Screen Unresponsive? 

  • Perform a Force Restart
  • Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button at the same time.
  • Keep holding both buttons for about 10–15 seconds.
  • The screen should go black and then restart automatically.

✅ This performs a soft reset and does not erase any data.

Screen Unresponsive and Cannot Be Restarted?

This reset method should only be used if there is a serious or fatal error on the screen and you are unable to force restart the device using the standard method.

How to Factory Reset Using Buttons

  • Make sure the screen is completely powered off. If needed, hold the power button until it shuts down.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Power button at the same time until the recovery menu appears.
  • Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to scroll through the options.
  • Highlight “Wipe data/factory reset.”
  • Press the Power button to confirm your selection.
  • Scroll to and select “Yes” to proceed.
  • Once the reset is complete, choose “Reboot system now.”

⚠️ Only perform this action if all other options (including force restart) have failed. A factory reset will erase all data on the screen.

✅ After the reboot, follow the setup instructions to reconfigure your SIMI Hub.
