Zigbee
Smart Light Switches
Zigbee is designed specifically for low-power, local device communication. It connects to a gateway via ethernet cable and creates its own mesh network, meaning it doesn’t rely directly on Wi-Fi to operate.
There are several advantages of installing this type of mesh network, including lower power consumption, where devices can communicate with each other, extending range and improving reliability without interference to your Wi-Fi network.
Once set up with the SIMI Smart app, you can control each Zigbee device from your screen or phone. For your convenience, schedule devices to turn on or off automatically, so they are ready to go when you are!
Zigbee devices connect to a Zigbee gateway that must be connected to your modem via ethernet cable. Please ensure that the gateway is always connected to your modem and power. If you need to re-pair one of your devices, please follow the directions below.

Adding Your ZigBee Device (Auto-Detected Setup)
- Open your SIMI Smart app and head to the Home Screen
- Select your Zigbee Gateway
- Tap “+ Add Subdevice”
- Make sure your device is in pairing mode (see table below).
- Tap next when found
- Give the switch a name to make it easier to locate in the app
- Allocate the device to a room and tap “Done” when you’re finished
- You can add multiple devices at once if they are all in pairing mode, but this might cause confusion as to which device you are pairing

Make sure power is connected. Find your switch below and follow the instructions

1–4 Gang Switch | Tap the switch on and off quickly 4 times & then hold any button for 11+ seconds |
5–6 Gang Switch | Tap any button 5 times, then hold for 5 seconds |
Fan/Light Switch | Hold any button for 11+ seconds |
Dimmer Switch | Hold center button for 11 seconds |
Trailing Edge Dimmer | Tap center 5 times, then hold for 5 seconds |
Automating your
Zigbee devices
The “Scenes” tab in your SIMI Smart app allows you to add automation to your devices such as ‘All Off’ or ‘All On’ & time lapse mode. You can create a scene that activates automatically when a condition is met, or a scene that you can manually trigger with a tap (Tap to Run).
When programmed, this can be used to make one light switch the main switch that will control all other light switches in the scene. Eg. You program all the light switches to turn on or off with the switch closest to your front door.

Troubleshooting your
Zigbee devices
If a smart switch isn’t working:
Ensure the power supply is connected.
Check that any scenes or automations in the SIMI Smart app are set up correctly.
Reset the switch by using the steps outlined above.
If the switch has no lights and other troubleshooting hasn’t worked:
Isolate the circuit by switching off the safety switch.
Wait 30 seconds, then switch it back on.
